Governor's Achievement Award The Governor's Achievement Award is given annually to the schools in the state who score in the top 5% for state testing in BOTH reading and math, as well as meeting guidelines for attendance. JSE was the only elementary school in Shawnee County to win this award and the first time for any Auburn-Washburn school. Congratulations to our staff, students, parents, and all patrons.

Zaner-Bloser Handwriting Contest
Jay Shideler Elementary School is proud to announce that we held our Zaner-Bloser handwriting contest this March. All students in
grades 1-6 did their best writing on the contest form. The grade level winners went on to the state level contest. We are honored to
announce that this year we have 3 state winners. Megan L., was announced as this year's Grand National Champion for grade 6!
